Reese went to Stanford, becoming an electrical engineer. His wife Kathleen was also a Stanford graduate. They settled in the Mountain View and raised three children there.
Starting his career as an independent contractor, he eventually got a position with Apple Computer, and later with Palm, HP and Nest. He was surprised to find that he worked well on teams, and that he had enjoyed debugging systems under development.
Retiring fully in 2015, Reese now spends his time tinkering at home, traveling to see the world and spending time with family and friends.
