SANDRA BENBROOK RIEDER

Oct. 29, 1947 - March 13, 2026

Sandra Benbrook Rieder, 78, died March 13 at her home in Cathlamet, Washington.

  Sandi was on the Campanile staff at Paly and wrote the "Grab Bag" column her senior year.

  She earned a BA in anthropology from USC, followed by a master's and Ph.D. in sociology. After a year skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho, Sandi worked in Washington, D.C. in public policy with an emphasis in demography.

   In 1984, she moved to Washington state, where she spent the rest of her life. She worked for the State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development, where she had a wide variety of assignments.

  She formed her own firm in mid-2000, working with state and local governments on environmental technology commercialization, emergency planning and public health emergency preparedness. 

  Sandi retired in 2010 and kept active in her community, serving on a number of boards.
